Born and raised in New Jersey, Jeffrey "Jeff" Laino was born on July 12, 1981, in Hackensack. Jeff grew up immersed in a culturally rich household that helped shape his worldview from an early age. His father is of Italian descent, while his mother brings together Irish, German, and Swiss heritage. This blend of traditions exposed Jeff to a variety of customs, values, and perspectives, fostering adaptability and appreciation for diversity that would later serve him well in both personal and professional settings. Growing up in New Jersey also gave Jeff a strong sense of community and work ethic, qualities that continue to define his approach to life.

Foundations of Education

Jeffrey Laino began his academic journey at Washington School, where he completed his elementary education. He then attended Westwood Junior High School before transferring to Bergen Catholic High School. At Bergen Catholic, Jeff further developed his academic discipline and graduated in 1999. The structured environment and emphasis on personal responsibility played a key role in preparing him for higher education and future career challenges.

College Studies and Academic Distinction

Following high school, Jeff attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1999 to 2000. He later transferred to Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, a public liberal arts institution known for its interdisciplinary approach. From 2000 to 2004, Jeff majored in information systems technology, a field that aligned with both his analytical mindset and his interest in practical problem solving. During his time at Ramapo, Jeff earned membership in the Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society. Founded in 1913, the society recognizes academic excellence in business-related disciplines and promotes leadership, scholarship, and service. Jeff’s inclusion reflected not only his academic performance but also his commitment to applying knowledge in meaningful ways.

Early Work Experiences

Jeff’s professional path began early, with his first job dating back to 1996. He worked as a skate guard and party planner at The Rink in Montvale, New Jersey. Having grown up with a strong passion for hockey, Jeff found this role especially enjoyable. The position allowed him to combine responsibility with a sport he loved, and he often reflects on those two years as some of the most rewarding of his career. The experience also taught him customer service, organization, and teamwork skills that would prove valuable in later roles.

Building a Career in a Family Business

In 1999, Jeff Laino began working at Architectural Window Manufacturing Corporation, formerly known as SWS Industries. The company was founded by his grandfather in the 1950s and has remained family-owned and operated ever since. Jeff initially contributed by applying his information systems background, helping to develop a part numbering structure and implement an inventory management system. Over time, his responsibilities expanded to include integrating a barcode system for the stock room and material acquisition. As Jeff’s interest in the business's long-term success grew, he requested to learn more about the mechanical side of operations. This decision marked an important transition, reflecting his desire to become a well-rounded and indispensable part of the company.

Current Professional Focus

Today, Jeff works as a Computer Numerical Control programmer and operator on Emmegi machines on the factory floor at AWMC. In this role, he continues to gain hands-on experience and technical expertise, deepening his understanding of manufacturing processes. Jeff is motivated by a long-term goal of learning every aspect of the business, from technology systems to production mechanics. His ambition is to honor his grandfather’s legacy by becoming a key contributor to the company’s future growth and stability.

Lifelong Commitment to Athletics

Beyond academics and work, Jeff has always been deeply involved in sports. From a young age, he participated in organized activities such as Little League baseball and soccer, later expanding into intramural bowling during high school. Athletics provided Jeff with discipline, camaraderie, and a competitive drive that carried over into other areas of his life.

Of all the sports Jeff has played, roller hockey holds a special place. Throughout his teens and twenties, he traveled extensively with competitive teams, gaining experience at high levels of play. As a member of the Montvale Rage, Jeff competed in numerous prominent games across New Jersey and participated in USA Roller Sports tournaments at both regional and national levels. In 1996, the Montvale Rage earned the title of US Junior Olympics National Champions, an achievement made possible in part by Jeff’s dedication and performance.
